Daniele Nespoli
Daniele Nespoli is an SEO and search analyst based in Italy, working on the technical and analytical side of search since 2007.
I started out as a systems engineer and came into search from the technical side. I graduated in Computer Science, and studied Information Retrieval and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
Those two subjects still frame how I read a result page: what a system is able to retrieve and rank, and what the person typing was actually asking for.
Areas of work
#areas- Technical SEO
- Crawling, indexing, rendering and site architecture. The part of search that is still an engineering problem.
- Search analysis
- Queries, result pages and search data, read closely enough to say what a search engine is doing and why.
- Information retrieval
- Ranking, relevance and evaluation. The subject I studied, and still the clearest way to reason about a result page.
- Testing and measurement
- Designing tests around search behaviour and ranking factors, and reading the results for what they establish.
- International search
- Sites that live in more than one language and market, where structure, hreflang and search behaviour all change together.
